HOLY SPIRIT INSPIRED FASTING AND PRAYER

"where they strengthened the believers. They encouraged them to continue in the faith, reminding them that we must suffer many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God. Paul and Barnabas also appointed elders in every church. With prayer and fasting, they turned the elders over to the care of the Lord, in whom they had put their trust."Acts 14:22‭-‬23 NLT

Luke 2:37 "And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.'

     The early church understood fasting ( depriving yourself of food  )  as an instrument for the development of our spirit man. They understood the importance of faith and a heart of love. They  recognized the importance of patience in the fulfilment of God's promises. 

   The scripture says God has given us all that pertains to life and godliness and that the believer is blessed with all spiritual blessings in Jesus Christ . 

   The believer's greatest problem is not that of demons being too powerful to hinder our miracles for we have been empowered to cast out demons . It is not a problem of curses for Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law . 

    The problem is the battle between the spirit man and the lower human nature . The bible says  "So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses." Galatians 5:16‭-‬18 NLT

   Fasting is aimed at allowing the Holy Spirit have his way in our lives ." But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!"Galatians 5:22‭-‬23 NLT

. The target of Holy Spirit-inspired fast is the manifestation of the fruits of the Spirit in our lives .

   Unbelievers without a personal relationship with the Holy Spirit fast for earthly 'things ' such as businesses, jobs, houses, cars ,promotion, marriages , children  etc  “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’  These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.  Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need".Matthew 6:31‭-‬33 NLT

 Seeking the fruits of the Spirit while Fasting is known as seeking God's kingdom. Fasting for earthly things results in a hardened hearts that hates God and results increase in corruption and backsliding in our devotion  to God (Mathew6:19-20)

PRAYER :  Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power for extraordinary wisdom and zeal for worship.

CONSEQUENCES OF LACK OF FAITH

COMMON CAUSES OF DISUNITY.

Proverbs 29:22 NLTBible        Disunity is defined as : disagreement and conflict within a group. It is the greatest hindrance to the promotion of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Disunity creates an avenue for Satan to promote sin.       The causes of disunity are not farfetched ,they include : Unhealthy Crave for power or self- promotion. Whenever there is an unhealthy pursuit of influence in a family or group it results in resistance. Self-promotion gives birth to unfair practices and injustices. In Numbers 12: 1-15  Moses' sister Miriam and Aaron rebelled against him desiring to rule by force and in Numbers 16 :1-35 Korah led an insurrection against Moses desiring to be part of leadership.
