THE HOLY SPIRIT AND MARRIAGE

" For the believing wife brings holiness to her marriage, and the believing husband brings holiness to his marriage. Otherwise, your children would not be holy, but now they are holy." 1 Cor 7:14 NLT

  "But Moses’ wife, Zipporah, took a flint knife and circumcised her son. She touched his feet with the foreskin and said, “Now you are a bridegroom of blood to me.” Exod 4:25 NLT

   God made a covenant with Abraham , it was sealed with the ordinance of circumcision of the foreskin . The covenant of salvation and blessing extended to the offsprings of Abraham . The Bible says  in Gen 6:9 "And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;" 

    Moses was married to the daughter of a priest who understood the law of covenant . God's covenant is sealed with blood ( a symbol of life for life Hebrew 9;22 ) . Jesus Christ gave up his life for our lives thus justice was satisfied . Moses was appointed to execute God's judgment upon the oppressors of the Jews in Egypt . 

   After receiving the instructions from God it was expected that Moses be circumcised like Abraham did but he was not and was to become a victim of the curse of the plagues that was to come upon the oppressors. He had no blood cover . The quick action of his wife who was led by the Holy spirit spared his life. She carried out the ordinance of sanctification through circumcision . This event occurred before the laws of Moses was instituted , therefore, it was strictly an act of grace . Under the dispensation of grace the bible says "For we who worship by the Spirit of God are the ones who are truly circumcised. We rely on what Christ Jesus has done for us. We put no confidence in human effort, " Philippians 3:3 NLT

   A circumcised skin has increased sensitivity , that's what the Holy spirit does to a marriage . Abraham was faced with marital crisis , his wife Sarah struggled with barrenness for over forty years , he had a child Ishmael that was not originally planned for , despite these challenges Abraham kept his calm and was able to live a fulfilled life . His relationship with the Holy spirit led to the birth of the nation of Israel - a nation to be reckoned with .

    The blessedness of the Holy Spirit upon a marriage has great impact  on the life of the  children  , the Bible says children are declared holy on account of a parent being saved. Such families are free from demonic manipulations . He will tell couples what to do whenever they are faced with crisis. He reveals future events before they occur thereby preparing them for the future ( John16:13)

   The Holy Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. !" Galatians 5:22‭-‬23 NLT These are the ingredients of a fruitful marriage

   Married persons should regularly ask for the fruits of the Holy Spirit in their daily prayers .

Prayer : Heavenly father forgive me of my  sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power for stability in Jesus name .

CONSEQUENCES OF LACK OF FAITH

COMMON CAUSES OF DISUNITY.

Proverbs 29:22 NLTBible        Disunity is defined as : disagreement and conflict within a group. It is the greatest hindrance to the promotion of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Disunity creates an avenue for Satan to promote sin.       The causes of disunity are not farfetched ,they include : Unhealthy Crave for power or self- promotion. Whenever there is an unhealthy pursuit of influence in a family or group it results in resistance. Self-promotion gives birth to unfair practices and injustices. In Numbers 12: 1-15  Moses' sister Miriam and Aaron rebelled against him desiring to rule by force and in Numbers 16 :1-35 Korah led an insurrection against Moses desiring to be part of leadership.
