LOVE ISN'T SUFFICIENT ENOUGH TO KEEP A HOME

Rev.Michael Benson Ajayi John 15:13 "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down  his life for his friends."    There is a remarkable difference   between what the world generally considers as love and what the word of God says love is. While the world defines it as compassion for self and for someone from which there is a derivable benefit, biblical love goes beyond passion: it is sacrificial     ; ironically, more persons perish as a result of love daily than any other reason globally.        The origin of wars are traceable to a person trying to demonstrate affection for someone else .In judges 15 , Samson declared war against the Philistines because his father in-law refused to allow him have sex with his Philistine wife  . Most men live their lives with a 'conquest' mentality and are driven by the desire to impress a woman. Adam ate the forbidden fruit not because he was deceived but...

HOLISTIC CONFLICT RESOLUTION

By Rev. Michael Benson Ajayi Luke 12:13 AMP "Someone from the crowd said to Him, Master, order my brother to divide the inheritance and share it with me. "      The clamor for self-determination is at an all-time high globally and this is motivated by the desire for communities to have control over the exploration and exploitation of their commonwealth.  The  public outcry has been that of resource control with many secessionist movements threatening fire and brimstone .            This was the situation between the two  brothers in Luke 12.13,  they had received an inheritance from their father with one probably having an unfair advantage over  the  other. It is common for parents to will their properties based on the sentimental value attached to each child. But it is not so with God, the scriptures says we are joint-heirs with Christ.     It was the  selfish disposition by one of them that i...

PEER PRESSURE FRUSTRATES GRACE

By Rev. Michael Benson Ajayi Mark 2:27 AMP "And Jesus said to them, The Sabbath was made on account and for the sake of man, not man for the Sabbath; ".         The law of the Sabbath required that the seventh Day of the week be set aside as a day of rest and communion with God. The scriptures says in Exodus. 23:12 " Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the seventh day thou shalt rest: that thine ox and thine ass may rest, and the son of thy handmaid, and the stranger, may be refreshed". The disciples were accused of violating the law of the sabbath because they harvested food on the Sabbath.        The purport and intent of the Sabbath was for refreshment and this would have been defeated if the disciples had perished in hunger. This informed Jesus' response to His critics when He said the sabbath was made for man and not the other way round. This parable underscores the importance of regulating the pressures of life while seeking...

THE VOICE OF THE MAJORITY ISN'T THE VOICE OF GOD.

By Rev.Michael Benson Ajayi  2 Chronicles 18:4-5 AMP "And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, Inquire first, I pray you, for the word of the Lord today. So King [Ahab] of Israel gathered together the prophets, 400 men, and said to them, Shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up, for God will deliver it into the king's hand."         Ahab, the king of Israel ,was at war with Samaria and he sought to make an alliance with Jehoshaphat  the kind of  Judah whom the lord had shown extraordinary favour by given him victory over his enemies.  Jehoshaphat had a tradition of always seeking God’s counsel before embarking on any major project. We are to first seek God's counsel before embarking on any major venture ( Matthew 6:33).              Ahab on the other hand  had no personal relationship with God,  he was rich , arrogant, presumptuous and was wi...

ACCEPTABLE CLOTHING IN CHURCH (PART 2)- Hair Covering

Image
\By Rev Michael Benson Ajayi    " Making the word of God of non effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such  like thing do ye " Mark 7:13 Historical Facts   According to middle eastern tradition, when a woman gets married, she honours her husband by covering herself with a veil i.e. total covering of the head, hand and legs Gen 24:65.Which some did not find comfortable sometimes.        This led to a contention in the church at Corinth where Apostle Paul had earlier taught on gender equality in the  house of God, leading to some women protesting and seeking to have their veils removed so they could be free from the discomforts just as their husbands were against the backdrop of equal freedom of expression since they were equal before God. They demonstrated their indignation by unveiling themselves: an action which brought shame to their husbands and families, given that it was a sign of divo...

ACCEPTABLE DRESSING IN THE CHURCH (PART 1)

Image
By Rev. Michael Benson Ajayi    But the Lord said unto Samuel, look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature, because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looked on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7 A dress says either of THREE   things about the wearer 1. I am responsible and reliable .e.g .conservative wears .   2- I am a rebel and unreliable e.g touts 3- I am a free spirit, emotionally unstable and I hate being under authority . e.g punks , clothes that reveal one’s nakedness.     -   It is a sin to judge by physical appearance – John 7:24   What is a righteous fashion judgment ? A righteous fashion judgment is a judgment that is not based on physical appearance (see II Cor. 4:16-18) -     God calls us priest.   Rev. 1:6. God dressed his priest in Ex. 28:40 -     Who is a priest? A priest is a person that has...

THE SIGN OF A TRUE DISCIPLE

Rev. Michael Benson Ajayi John 13: 34 -35"A new commandment I give unto  you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all  men know that ye are  my disciples, if ye have love one to another."         The sign of a true disciple isn't in our religious garments,  tone of speech,  strict dietary principles and all manner of rules and regulations prescribed by religious folks. The world seem to be getting more and more confused on what constitutes a wholesome  church . After making a commitment to serve the Lord, the next step  is to identify with a Christian group : this is necessary for a healthy spiritual growth.             Through our fellowship with other Christians we experience warmth that makes the period of trials and temptation more tolerable.  It is the love from the brethren that gives us the assurance needed to face life's challenges....
