CONFLICT RESOLUTION

 By Rev. Michael Benson Ajayi

"Let all who are spiritually mature agree on these things. If you disagree on some point, I believe God will make it plain to you."

Philippians 3:15 NLT Bible

In this text Apostle Paul reminded the Philippian church that we are one in Christ and as God's family we have a common goal : the heavenly prize . "...dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. "Philippians 3:13‭-‬14 NLT

No person is perfect in any relationship, according to the Book of James a perfect person is defined as one who does not offend in words, James 3: 2 "For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body." there is no spouse or family member who can claim to have never spoken words they regret saying in anger.

The Bible says out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks therefore , bad words are products of bad thoughts ,there is no spouse or a family member who will claim that they have never thought of something bad against someone , if you have not spoken evil that means you have never imagined evil .  " Not a single person on earth is always good and never sins." Ecclesiastes 7:20 NLTBible

The scripture in Philippians 3:15 says there shall be disagreements amongst God's people and they shall be resolved by him.

There are two ways to resolve a conflict ,they are by confrontation or by diplomacy. Confrontation requires claiming your rights and demanding for justification through a fight and on the other hand diplomacy entails seeking to arrive at  a middle ground acceptable to all parties involved .

The motivation behind a settlement is our value for  relationships ( family or business ) remember , injuries  from fragmented family relationships affect the children and those involved for a lifetime , Children from broken homes have a high tendency to grow up into adults with poor anger management skills resulting in moral bankruptcy, low self-esteem  and instability manifesting in hypercriticism , pessimism, unforgiveness and blame shifting . If uncured. it could result in a cycle of failed relationships.

There are four things that we need to put into consideration while seeking for a settlement.

.1) It could be you at the other end 2) There is never a winner in any family or community feud  .3) The family or community is weakened by feuds. 4) Whatever you do to anyone would be done to you either good  or bad (5) there is always room for forgiveness. 6) things are never the same after a feud . It leaves a permanent dent in our relationship.

While seeking for settlements, we should realize  the name of the Lord is at stake and whatever we do to one another is being done to the lord either good or bad and it comes with consequences.

Prayer: Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as Lord and savior and receive the Holy Ghost and power to be a peacemaker in Jesus name.
