CAST OUT THE SEDUCER

Acts 16:16-18  "And it came to  pass, as we went to prayer, a certain  damsel possessed with a spirit of  divination met us, which brought her  masters much gain by soothsaying:  The same followed Paul and us, and  cried, saying, These men are the  servants of the most high God, which  shew unto us the way of salvation. And this did she many days. But Paul,  being grieved, turned and said to the  spirit, I command thee in the name of  Jesus Christ to come out of her. And  he came out the same hour.  And  when her masters saw that the hope of  their gains was gone, they caught Paul  and Silas, and drew them into the  marketplace unto the rulers,"

  The word 'divination' is the Greek word  Puthōn its origin is from Greek mythology where  the name of the Pythian serpent or dragon that dwelt in the region of Pytho at the foot of Parnassus in Phocis, and was said to have guarded the oracle at Delphi and been slain by Apollo. It is characterized with inspiration ( soothsaying).

    Preachers operating with the spirit of divination often do not know they are possessed.  It was the same spirit that was at work in Zedekiah and his four hundred prophets in 1 kings 22: 1-38. They could be mentioning the name of the Lord and operating a ministry  like this girl in Acts16. and they often preach a message of materialism and not about repentance, getting filled with the Holy Spirit. 

  Such ministries are synonymous with a get -rich -quick theology with  money at the centre of their existence and are devoid of christian character and the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit.

When a preacher measures success in ministry by how much material wealth ( money ) and fame he or she becomes a tool to the Python spirit (1Tim6;5) unfortunately this is what is promoted in many church growth conferences . This girl brought her owners a lot of money. Success in ministry is measured by having heaven- bound members and a righteous community of believers. 

   A church led by a preacher possessed by a seducing spirit has the following characteristics  " For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God.  They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. STAY AWAY FROM PEOPLE LIKE THAT ! They are the kind who work their way into people’s homes and win the confidence of vulnerable women who are burdened with the guilt of sin and controlled by various desires.  (Such women are forever following new teachings, but they are never able to understand the truth.) 2 Timothy 3:2-7 

 In other to attract crowds and money many preachers have embraced soothsaying ( seeing visions) as a way to grow a church instead of teaching sound doctrine as commanded by Jesus Christ ( Matthew 28:19, 1 Tim 4:11) The bible says  " Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;" 1 Timothy 4;1. They are in danger of hell fire , Matthew 7:22-23 " Many will say to  me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not  prophesied in thy name? and in thy  name have cast out devils? and in thy  name done many wonderful works? "And then will I profess unto them, I  never knew you: depart from me, ye  that work iniquity."

Prayer ; Heavenly father forgive me of my sins I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I receive him as lord and saviour and ask to be filled with the Holy Spirit and power to cast out demons.

CONSEQUENCES OF LACK OF FAITH

COMMON CAUSES OF DISUNITY.

Proverbs 29:22 NLTBible        Disunity is defined as : disagreement and conflict within a group. It is the greatest hindrance to the promotion of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Disunity creates an avenue for Satan to promote sin.       The causes of disunity are not farfetched ,they include : Unhealthy Crave for power or self- promotion. Whenever there is an unhealthy pursuit of influence in a family or group it results in resistance. Self-promotion gives birth to unfair practices and injustices. In Numbers 12: 1-15  Moses' sister Miriam and Aaron rebelled against him desiring to rule by force and in Numbers 16 :1-35 Korah led an insurrection against Moses desiring to be part of leadership.
