HAVING IT YOUR WAY

By Rev. Michael Benson Ajayi

"  It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged." 1 Corinthians 13:5 NLT

"They united against Moses and Aaron and said, “You have gone too far! The whole community of Israel has been set apart by the Lord , and he is with all of us. What right do you have to act as though you are greater than the rest of the Lord ’s people?” Numbers 16:3 NLT

The concept of a divine intervention or miracle in the life of the believer requires discernment by the Holy Spirit . We are interconnected existentially " From one man he created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries. For in him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’"  Acts of the Apostles 17:26‭, ‬28 NLT therefore, whatever decision we make will eventually impact on the lives of every human being . Yes , you are that influential , someone this very moment is either being built up or being destroyed by our actions or inactions . Therefore, seeking to always having it your way does more harm than good especially in a marriage. One of the signs of an unhealthy marriage is that where major life-changing decisions are made to please one persons most of the time . This is a sign of bad child upbringing. Letting your child to always have his or her will produce a self centred spouse in future , a major reason for marital failures.  That is not true love but an abuse of grace and it is symptomatic of pride . The scriptures says in 1 Cor13:5 "  love ...does not demand its own way'

Korah , Datham and  Abiram wanted to have things done their way without recourse to God's counsel. They did not like Moses' way of governance and decided to form a parallel government .  Something may seem good but it may not be right . We should always seek the wider implications of our decisions before taking any action.

When we pray we should always allow wisdom guide our prayers . Some prayers are not necessary if wisdom is applied . If you cannot stand the heat in a kitchen you do not need prayers, you simply walk out .

During fasting and prayer we should be open to unpleasant changes especially when it does not work as planned (Malachi3:17-18)  . Fasting and praying for a thing using positive affirmative scientific techniques could result in a desired affect but contrary to God's plan for the greater good of all . The returnees from Egypt tempted God by seeking to have their way , consequently  they were afflicted with a pandemic as a result of this , the bible says " In the wilderness their desires ran wild, testing God’s patience in that dry wasteland. So he gave them what they asked for, but he sent a plague along with it." Psalms 106:14‭-‬15 NLT

We should pray for a heart that is sensitive to the feelings of others. This is key to prosperity and peace .

Prayer : Heavenly Father forgive me of my sins against you I believe Jesus Christ died  and was raised again for my salvation  I receive him as lord and saviour and receive the Holy Spirit and power for great  progress
