IS IT GOOD FRIDAY OR THURSDAY ?

One of the controversies among Christians and non Christians is on the number of days in Jesus' three days and three nights (Matt12:40). They say going by the twenty four hour day , if Jesus resurrected on a Sunday then he must have died on a Thursday not friday as often claimed during easter . 

 Ancient Bible times where not divided into 24 hours but twelve hours . This was how they did their valuations ,it was based on the Egyptian method of keeping time 

"Ancient Egyptians started it by dividing day time into 12 hours. They made use of shadow clocks known as sundials. According to ABC Science, a knowledge platform, the way sundials worked was that stakes were placed in the ground and then time was measured by looking at the length and direction of the shadows of the sun.

 The ancient Egyptians then divided night time into 12 hours by observing the stars.  By looking at a system of 36 star groups known as ‘decans’, they discovered that every night, one decan would rise 40 minutes after the previous one. Eleven decans in total were observed to rise each night, thereby creating 12 divisions of the night. This is according to Wikipedia, . In the 14th Century, mechanical clocks were invented in Europe, making it possible to have a consistent measure of a day and finally stamping the 24-hour day as we know it today'.( www.new times. rw )

A day was 12 hours which was 6am to 6pm

The period between 6pm to 12 am was considered as night and 12 am to twilight was also considered as night of another day .As long as it was dark it was considered night time. You couldn't say 2am  in the morning . 

Friday night was say from say 7 pm to 12 midnight. First night of first day .

12 am to say 4 to 5 am second night of second day Saturday 

6-7pm to 12am midnight Saturday is third night

Day time calculation :

If Jesus transited into the land of the dead by about 3 pm day time the first day on Friday followed by the first night time within a twelve hour day period .

By 6am Saturday that would the second day of a twelve hour day followed by a Saturday night that ends 12 am which is the beginning of the first Sunday night that leads to 6am being the third day on Sunday . That was why the women ran to the grave very early Sunday morning . The Bible says 

" Early on Sunday morning, as the new day was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went out to visit the tomb.  Suddenly there was a great earthquake! For an angel of the Lord came down from heaven, rolled aside the stone, and sat on it. " Matthew 28:1-2 NLT 

This was in fulfilment of the old testament prophecy  In Hosea 6:2" After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight."

Prayer: Heavenly Father , forgive me of my sins I believe Jesus Christ died and was raised again for my salvation I  receive him as lord and saviour and receive zeal to wisdom for excellence in Jesus name . Amen

CONSEQUENCES OF LACK OF FAITH

COMMON CAUSES OF DISUNITY.

Proverbs 29:22 NLTBible        Disunity is defined as : disagreement and conflict within a group. It is the greatest hindrance to the promotion of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Disunity creates an avenue for Satan to promote sin.       The causes of disunity are not farfetched ,they include : Unhealthy Crave for power or self- promotion. Whenever there is an unhealthy pursuit of influence in a family or group it results in resistance. Self-promotion gives birth to unfair practices and injustices. In Numbers 12: 1-15  Moses' sister Miriam and Aaron rebelled against him desiring to rule by force and in Numbers 16 :1-35 Korah led an insurrection against Moses desiring to be part of leadership.
